Taranaki Savings Bank 2020

In 2019, Taranaki Savings Bank (TSB) set out to transform Level 3 of its New Plymouth headquarters into a modern, people-focused workspace. The aim was to replace an aging, traditional office layout with an environment that reflected TSB’s culture of connection, collaboration, and innovation.

The result would become Mahi Tahi (Working Together), a flexible workplace designed to support diverse working styles while embedding TSB’s commitment to sustainability and cultural values.

BFG partnered with the design team to deliver a furniture solution that aligned with the project’s themes of propagation, innovation, and cultivation. Each zone was carefully planned to support creativity and collaboration, while also providing quiet areas for focus.

Materials played a central role in bringing authenticity and warmth to the space. We incorporated natural solid timbers and wool-textured fabrics, both sustainable choices that reinforced the bank’s environmental values. The furniture package balanced adaptability with comfort, creating a naturally productive atmosphere for staff.

The completed Mahi Tahi workspace is vibrant and future-ready. Staff enjoy a flexible environment that makes it easy to connect, collaborate, and innovate, while also reflecting TSB’s strong cultural identity. By weaving together sustainability, wellbeing, and functionality, the new space has become a physical expression of the bank’s values and a platform for its people to thrive.
