In a move to streamline operations and adopt a more collaborative way of working, a central government agency decided to consolidate its teams from four separate Auckland buildings into one purpose-designed, six-storey workplace in the heart of Newmarket. The new location was selected for its accessibility, with excellent public transport links and proximity to gyms, retail, and green spaces—supporting staff wellbeing and ease of access.

This large-scale transition called for a future-focused fit-out that could support both collaborative and individual work, enable flexible workstyles, and maintain consistency across all departments. A key aspect of the project was the strategic relocation and reuse of existing electric desks from multiple sites, which required careful planning and coordination. The agency needed an experienced partner who understood the operational demands of government workplaces and could deliver a seamless, well-managed transition into the new environment.

Having worked with this agency over many years, BFG was the natural choice to lead the furniture specification process. Our furniture specialist worked closely with project managers, stakeholders, and user groups to develop a detailed FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) schedule tailored to the new environment.
