Bay of Plenty DHB – Te Waka Aorangi Child Wellness Centre

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty engaged BFG to provide a turnkey FF&E fitout for, Te Waka Aorangi, which is a dedicated centre for children with neurodevelopmental, behavioural, and mental health needs in the Bay of Plenty. This facility provides a group of specialists a shared space, ensuring tamariki and their whānau receive streamlined, integrated care without multiple referrals.

Upon being selected as the successful tenderer for the FF&E package in a highly competitive tender process, BFG worked closely alongside the Bay of Plenty DHB project team in conjunction with Jigsaw Architects, working through each area to ensure the furniture selected was fit for purpose for individual age groups and specific children & specialist needs.

Included in this fitout were 80+ Apex Electric sit to stand desks and screens, Alto task chairs, metal tambour’s, meeting tables both static and folding, leaners & seating, training room furniture, Melteca lockers, waiting room furniture, which featured our exclusive Dauphin Fiore seating and lastly our consultation room furniture with age-appropriate children’s furniture – toddler through to school age.

This was a staged delivery and installation for a total supply fit-out across 2 levels. BFG were awarded the contract for total fit-out supply in April 2023, with Stage 1 delivery in June 2023 concluding with Stage 2 and completion in October 2024.

Even with the logistical challenge of stair-carrying most items due to limited lift access, we managed a smooth and timely delivery process across all floors.

BFG were honoured to support Te Whatu Ora Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty in realising a welcoming space for neurodiverse children, their whanau and the wider Bay of Plenty community.
